What Can CleanTech Do For Oahu, Now, and Into the Future?

Balcony solar, bifacial agrivoltaics, solid state batteries, heat pump appliances (1/6 the energy use), electrified aviation, two headed wind turbines with 50 MW capacity... it's all happening around the world and Hawaii stands to benefit tremendously from this booming industry if it plays its cards right and makes good decisions today. Cleantech in its many forms (EVs, solar, wind, energy efficiency, ebikes, and more) has moved Hawaii substantially in the last 20 years, and the technology is evolving faster than anyone could have imagined. In 2010, for instance, the Energy Information Administration predicted solar would drop in price from 35c per kWh to 15c by 2035. It dropped way further, hitting 1/3 that estimate, in less than half the time, showcasing the exponential expansion of cleantech as a solution to society's high energy prices and reliance on polluting fuels.

Furthering the momentum of April's Hawaii first ever Sustainability Expo, this event will showcase some of the newest developments in cleantech, and what they portend for Hawaii's future.
